Although I had worked oncology and ER, I spent the majority of my career as a nurse working in psych. I had always wanted to work with patients who needed compassion, patience, and advocacy. It wasn't until I began working in a psychiatric hospital that I truly felt like that desire had been fulfilled. The mental health struggles I had experienced since childhood provided me a personal and professional connection with a population that are too ashamed to advocate for themselves due to the long-standing stigma that our society places on problems that cannot be seen. I have worked with a variety of psychiatric subspecialties, but I love working with addicts and adolescents the most. I live in Hazard, KY with my husband and 6-year-old son. So, in my free time we doing activities together that we all enjoy which is hiking, swimming, and playing/watching basketball (Go Golden State Warriors!)
